If you can Dream it, they can Ice Cream it!

COLD ROCK ICE CREAMERY

Lionel introduced us the place cos he heard it on radio. If you have a couple of friends with you, looking for a haunt to sit, talk, and eat ICE CREAM ALL DAY. Then this is the place to go. Interestingly, Singapore only has one outlet down at Holland Village.

What's special about the place is you get to pick 2 ice-cream flavours of your choice, and as many toppings as you want ranging from gummi bears, marshmallows, snicker bars, oreo cookies, MnMs, Freddo the frog, biscuits, etc. They will then bring it over to their 'cold rock' table, which prevents the ice-cream from melting, where they will mix and mash everything together. It's a really fun experience.

A video demo-ing how they do it at COLD ROCK:

Rusty

I feel so free now that I don't have to sleep and can do whatever I want. Gerekzzzz

So haven't been to my bestie's, Ruz, blog in a while when I saw this -

I'm gonna end my post with a video for my girlfriend, Natz! Hey gf! You still remember this vid? Brought back a lottttt of memories when I watched it the other night.

Turns out it's A1 Ready Or Not! Hahah yep, definitely brought back memories. Sec 1. The girls tried to learn the choreography for some sch performance. And the memorable part was when some of us [you know who you are, miss ;)] got into an argument later. Oh days of immaturity. Sec school's been a blast yea? Let's go back someday.

I misses you girlfriend :)

Ketawa

The last few days have been going swell.

On Sunday, the MNM (mat, nat, mir) siblings went kite-flying! Really good cos I've never seen my brother behave like a child in the longest time. He was running everywhere with the kite hoping to keep it up. And I don't think Mijon has seen my bro act like that as well, so he was extra happy and we all just ran together. With very little wind, and not very experienced kite-flyers, we were pretty impressed by how high it got.

On Monday, I shopped for Mat's birthday present. I couldn't find anything proper so I just bought that flexi-hand neck massager from Action City. Then I dropped by school to see the boyfriend [:)].

On Tuesday, Happy 24th Birthday Mahathir! The lunch with Varian - super. A good 2-hour chat in the afternoon. I went to vista to try and edit this outside project we did, but all I could do was slice the clips up. Then we dropped by studio and saw everyone. Crazy studio IG is now 16 ppl bigger! Haha good luck you guys! Advantage is there's loads more hands, that's for sure.

Finally, a dinner at Sakura for Mat's birthday where Mijon believed the fish dish to be a 'shark', and we dared him to eat the fish's eye. He said okay! And just when it was about to enter his mouth, it slipped off the spoon. haha nonsense.

Today is Wednesday! :D

Clown

According to Cambridge Dictionaries,

prioritysomething that is very important and must be dealt with before other things
and
balance - to give several things equal amounts of importance, time or money so that a situation is successful

In a matter of 24 hours, i made different groups of people upset due to priority. or my failure to prioritise.

1. colleague

we had a party at a colleague's house last night. due to some circumstances, i left the party early. i did feel guilty. cos it was the last time we'll see some of the crew. but i wanted to go meet him as well. the next day, a friend said

"... eh yesterday some of them mad at you. asked how come you suddenly leave. some of them looking for you..."

2. mr f

i cancelled out on an outing with him at the very last minute today cos i felt bad about leaving the party early the previous night. so i decided to spend today with my colleagues. but i feel awful at the same time for canceling out on him so late.

3. mirzan

i thought i would reach home by 7pm so i called mirzan to tell him. he looked forward to me coming home by 7. but alas, i got back at 9pm. he was still happy to see me. and said, "i want to play hide and seek. you know how to play hide and seek?" "no i don't. later teach me okay." i went in to change, answered a few sms-es. he shouted outside my room "kakak, faster!" i was still sms-ing. i came back out, and found him soundly asleep in his bed :(

my bibik looked at me and said, "he so poor thing. he went back and forth, back and forth waiting for you but you didn't come out."

my heart sank. i feel like the lousiest sister :(:(

4. dad

this occurred many times before but i've always been lacklustre about it. everytime i keep my phone in my bag when i go out. so if anyone calls i don't know cos it's on vibration mode. when i open my phone, there's always tons of missed calls by my dad. today when i almost reached home i had 3 missed calls by him.

dad "where r u?"
nat "admiralty mrt"
dad "ok, bibik waiting for u at home since 7pm"
nat "i had some packing to do. i just said 7pm in case i went back early"
dad "i call u always didn't answer. next time if i m dieing i will have difficulty to let u know"

i remembered not being able to concentrate on a single thing the entire day today. if it wasn't one, it was the other.

lessons:
- to keep promises
- to never be last minute about informing
- to always keep phone with me
- to be smarter at prioritising
- to spend more time with mirzan and family after internship
- to remember lessons learned

What did you say, Zu Wee?

"IT'S A WRAPPPP!!!"

I knew it, I knew all that hard work would pay off. Sayang Sayang wrapped on 20 April 2008. Just a bit of endurance, sacrifice and willpower is all it takes... to make the wrap seem so much more worthwhile. It has been great, it has been exceptionally fabulous. I am proud to have been a part of this production, I am proud to have met the people I met, and learned from them along the journey. I am happy (and a tiny bit exhausted).

Like Jia Min (2nd AD) said,

"You guys survived.."

It does feel weird knowing it has ended. Now we have to re-work our lifestyle. There's going to be lesser chaos. For now.

Apparently we found out work doesn't end here. We have to tear down everything from set, pack the place, clean up the mess, and see if they need anymore help before permanently saying bye bye at the end of April.

This production has ended, but it might spell the beginning of another. Possibly,

... with a group that's doing a cina peranakan drama, who only need help in photoshopping
... with Richard! The nicest baba man we know, who needs help in t-shirt designing in conjunction w/ the peranakan museum opening

"Thrilling man!" - Jia Min

Plugless

Firstly,

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY MR ONG IRFAN
I wish I could've been at the party as well, even tho it was a surprise one
But many wishes to you and Lyn, Ong Schlong :D

---------------------

It's been confirmed, 20th April - "it's a wrap!"

I can't wait to lead a normal life again, but there's a lot of things I'll miss. Preparing props, rushing to locations, talking and working with the crew, watching the cast get made up, relaxing with the interns, the rush of scene change, the last min orders by ADs, angsty directors, watching the cast get into character, getting last min orders to be extras (jannah's gonna be on tv!), and looking forward to meal times (and we can't do this without jannah :D)!

Everyone looks forward to meal times. at 12 am, when talents are feeling sleepy, they look for Jannah because she's the answer to their need to rejuvenate. kheng hua looks for jannah for her daily kopi-o kosong, michelle chong looks for jannah for her teh-o.

Honestly girl, no one can stay alive without you on the set. Props are props, anyone can do it (and it's not all that fun either, trust me). But no one can handle the food like jannah, the effort and love she puts into it.. cos it is not easy pleasing everyone. but jenny always knows what we peoples likes :)

Hmm the train this morning was jam-packed as hell. But I think I like the idea of being squashed. It means I don't have to hold the railing. If the train jerks, I just lean on someone so it's kind of cosy.

So today I'm doing transcribing! Really excited!

So many plans for post 20th April.

I've bought OC season 1 and 2, and coming up 3 so I can have my own drama marathon.
gonna clean up my room,
start watching more movies,
walk around Singapore,
pay attention to Mirzan,
start making t-shirts for the fun of it cos I don't want to buy anymore,
go ben & jerry's with my lovers,
do a series of masak-masak show (don't forget jan!)
purchase more dvds
and have the time of my life!

then I'll find work again. Hope you guys are doing well too!

26 March 2008

That was it. The day came and went. What was thought to be a possibly boring and monotonous event turned out to be pretty amazing. And possibly memorable as well. Even if it was boring, kids of STA never fail to make it fun.

"When you walk across the stage, take your time..." - Serene

And take my time I did. It was great seeing everyone again.

Adam danced his way across the stage, which was awesome! That's the Adam we know and love. And the first to receive the award no less haha. You look like you've lost some weight! I loved seeing Noraini again (missed you!), Gareth (you look like you lost some weight too!), Shannon, Natasha, Guo Yuan, Lionel and Jannah (tho I see you 2 everyday more than I see my family heh), Lisa, Huda, Hafez, Zul, Khalis, Zhi Ning and so many others.

It was fun shouting friends names as they walked onstage.

I don't think I've seen our facis look that away. The smile on their face when each STA student walks on stage.

As I walked back to my seat, I saw Ee Shaun and shook his hand. Then I saw David Cheng.
We have known him for 3 years and it suddenly dawned on me, we have gone through so much thick and thin with him and done many late night projects together from the Film IG days, Studio Production, School of Disco Zombies, the recent Open House, Poly Forum, Studio IG, and Grad DVD. I had to thank this man cos he has always been there helping us.

I stopped and looked at him. He looked surprised as he turned and saw me and said, "Give me a hug man." This is the man I love as a friend and guide.

Later at the reception area, amid the blue-purple-green robes and cupcakes and mummies and daddies, I saw the other man I was looking for. There standing with Samantha obviously oblivious to my presence was Mr Varian Lim. I called out his name.

He turned, and for a short five seconds he gave me that very significant Varian look. The one that makes you feel as if you've done something wrong.

Finally he broke into a smile and opened his arms. I ran in like a child would into a mother's arms. I have loved this man from the moment I met him. He first helped me find my place in STA by pulling me in for our first Open House in 06. And that was where I met Noraini, Gareth, Jannah, Guo Yuan, Adam, Ghaz, Dyl, Rain, Lionel, Luke, Skye, Jose, David, and others. He was always there to listen to the stupid things I have to say, and give advices whether it's about relationships, family or school.

I love it. Today was absolutely wonderful. Do keep in touch friends :)

mobstas on GANGSTARZ 08

This is probably the coolest thing that's happened to any of us. These dudes are gonna be on TV3! Wooo!

I think that's awesome. They got Top 5 in a Malaysian talent show. I know it's not Grammy's or something but knowing my friends are inside feels like it. It's way cooler than cooooool. It's ice sejuuuuuuk (translated 'cold') bebeh!

Possibly airing on 27 April. So if you've got Malaysian channel, do Watch it! Record it!

Music is truly a wonderful thing because to a lot of us it becomes the soundtrack to our lives. We could be 90-years-old and saggy, and still seen with earphones buried in our hairy, wrinkled ears.

I wish I were a musician too. I have the urge but can't do much. If I could, I would want to play the piano, drums and guitar. But hoho, i no know about musical notes or anything like that. I won't die peaceful until that one cheap jamming session.

But yea, sometimes people cross roads. To pursue another interest or perhaps having lost interest in the current one. Either out of selfishness, out of anger, out of passion, out of love, out of thoughtfulness, and the list goes on. we'll never know.

But change is a constant yea? We can't let these things get in the way of what we really love. And if they still love it too, they'll come back.

I Love it

I love coming to Holland Village every morning. I enjoy the realxing bus ride there. I love the strong breeze that greets us when we get off the bus. I love getting our morning coffee at Burger King or Starbucks. I love the friendly people we meet (the Starbucks girl is nice. The first time we met her she was already yapping away). I love walking around at lunch time looking for places to eat, people-watching and car-watching (some pretty nice cars go by everyday).

One main thing to add to the whole experience is reminiscence. My mak and bapak angkat (godparents. im not sure if it's the right term) used to live there and as a kid, I would always live with them during the holidays. My datuk Ismail (grandfather) lived in the same block as them. So I've spent half my childhood there since I was a year old. The sad thing is a lot of the HDBs have been upgraded and stuff so it looks a tad different. But last week as I walked through the blocks an avalanche of memories just washed over me.

It was sad, yet I was happy to be back there. To smell the air, to appreciate the sights. It felt like I was a 5 year old again getting ready to go to the playground with mak. She's a little old now, about 60. And living by herself, while still working, at Lavender. A lot of things happened in between that might've made her sad but she always refuses to show. She used to have 3 sons but now she has 1. She used to have a husband but now she has none. She was there to hold me in her arms when my mum passed.

20 years since I first met her as a baby she's always looked the same to me. Beautiful smile and a glimmer in her eyes when she does. And I've always felt comforted by that. I told myself one day I'm going to take care of her. When I'm successful, I'll make sure she, my father and stepmum have a stable place to live in where they won't have to work anymore. They deserve a rest.

I'll take her for a walk around the neighbourhood one day. And we'll just sit there together in the breeze, stare at our surroundings and know we had such amazing times together. Probably the best years together. At our house in Holland Road. Back in the 90s. When everyone else was still alive.

Love partner + friends = a healthy Balance

Here's a tip for anyone with relationships and even a memo for me! Just in case I forget.

love partner + friends = a healthy relationship

I have always believed in this (or more like, just realised this after my break-up), and so have some people I know. The one I had with H was considered an unhealthy one. He got jealous when I talked to my guy friends and slowly I realised I got to see/spend less time with my other friends. And they did come back with scary mesages like "why did you ditch us?"

But after talking to Mr V, I realise being loyal to your significant other is important. But so is maintaining your relationship with your friends. I will always need my friends until the day I die. Spending a romantic time with the man you love is completely different from spending time with your girlfriends, having a fun time gossiping and watching chick flicks. So that means you should let your man spend time with his boyfriends and enjoy their boytime as well.

That's a plus plus for your happiness.

Friends are Forever?

I used to think friends forever was the most pretentious quote I ever heard.

I mean, who can keep a friend relationship forever right? We try, but most of the time we're unsuccessful. Graduation Day, we weep, we hug, 5 years later, we're not talking to 75% of them already.

So I thought, friends forever? So dumb. Now, 3 years after graduation, the only person I'm talking to is Ruz. We always stuck together then. I'm glad we're still talking now. She's the kind of person I don't want to lose (I'm making her a special customised birthday gift hehehehe).

Then I saw the light. Maybe they don't mean having just one (friend) relationship forever. But that throughout your life, you'd find that you constantly need your friends with you, no matter who or when. For support, for company, for happiness, for sharing experiences, and for love. Sometimes they say, if you have at least one person who loves you, you can succeed.

I agree whole-heartedly. Everyone's been down before. If I'm down because I had problems with my friends, I'd always feel like going home. Because I know I can talk to one person - Mirzan. He listens to my problems and responds. I'm shy to talk abt my problems to the other ppl in my family. But Mirzan responds appropriately. He'd make me feel secure because I know he loves me. Once I said, I'm scared because I think my friend hates me. He turned my head to face him and said "i shoot your friend."

Morrie said - "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and let it come in."

What are we without the love of our family and friends? Friendship is forever.

Proof of the Pudding!

I decided to put up some pictures of that
memorable night.

Not only was
The Click Five at the Arts House for us to ogle, they also came for the After Party which was a real treat. Yum. They were really far away, and I had to zoom, plus it was night time. So the pictures aren’t that clear.

Can't see?

Still can't see?

Joe, Kyle and Ethan (in white).

Nyahnyahnyah. If you notice, there’s this twinkle in kyle’s eye which was probably from my flash so it caught his attention and he turned. I quickly ducked down and just wished I had done it at a better timing.

A happy start for a happy Natasha

(note: the person above is not Natasha)

Finally it has arrived.
Blog NUMBER FOUR!!!!

Because I
am bad at remembering usernames and passwords. But this is the record for me. The setup of two blogs within a week. And Jannah was saying in her high-shrilled voice, "don't forget your password this time!" I said, "I swear I won't!" And I didn't. But what I forgot was my username instead. Goddammnit!

(beware: long story ahead!)

So we had fun yesterday! And I shall tell you why soon. Like now. Jangjang called the day before.

"Natz, guess who I'm sitting next to...?"

"Er... Timothy Goh...?"

"One of the Click Five guys... hehehe..."

I screamed...!!! She asked if I wanted to come help the next day and off we went! It was fun seeing people of all sorts, personalities and colour. Their works were the greatest. But we knew what everyone was waiting for. That moment. Suddenly Jannah came running from behind the corner.

"They're coming they're coming! Click 5 is coming up the stairs now!"

I froze. Less than 10 seconds later, Kyle
(lead singer) strode by, tall and lanky, with guitar case in hand and a smile followed by the rest of the band. I would melt if I wanted to but Jannah and I know we had a mission to keep our cool! Later, we desperately wanted to take a picture (actually it was me; jan already took one with kyle the day before).

When one of the ladies (who was with Click 5) walked by, we asked if it was possible to take a picture with them. She immediately agreed and let us in. When Lester saw us going in, he quickly ran and said to the lady, "I'm with them!" Finally.. we were in the lounge room behind closed doors, alone with Click 5... and a random nice photographer.

I guess it never dawned on us the whole time we were star-struck. But nothing felt as real as that moment. We were not seeing them on pictures in magazines, or on a cd case. We were in a room with them. This silence
was deafening. Some were practicing their instruments, some were packing, and the three of us were murmuring among ourselves. When the photographer knew it was odd enough for us, he gestured us toward the guys and we kindly asked for a photo with the band. They smiled and agreed.

Their performance was mind-blowing. Possibly because we were so star-struck. But it wasn't just us who went crazy.
