Because of Ben Gibbard, I'm a believer in sway. Swaying your body. ANd he probably swayed his way to thinness. He's the God of Sway when it comes to moving to the music. And it makes people want to sway as well it's awesome. And great voice. The music I always wake up to.
More SWAY from their performance in Singapore (pls ignore screaming fans).

What stood out most for me about the disco era were the - roller skates!
The clip is from a film called Roll Bounce. A group of neighbourhood boys go to their local rink to skate (and practically rule it) just about everyday till one day it closes from running out of business. Heading to the Sweetwater Roller Rink, they realise their modest talents are not enough.
The tricks and things in the show are wicked. But that's not why I wanna learn inline. Just that free willy feeling of cruising about. That is if I have (or can) learned doing it proper.
Another tribute to them d-d-Disco days! A song originally sung by McFadden & Whitehead - Ain't No Stopping Us Now.
"Michael Jackson's 50th birthday, a milestone that will likely be feted bymany a newspaper in need of a holiday-weekend feature hole and a lot of morning-radio shows dredging up old jokes about plastic surgery and hyperbaric chambers. Thinking about Jackson hitting the big 5-0 has actually made me think about how the whole culture of celebrity has changed over the course of his fame... (etc.) " [idolator]
Think he still dances like he used to? Guess not. Maybe after he's died they'll saw off his feet and auction it off for 6 - 9 figure sum. Hmm talk about foot fetish. I still love you Michael!!!
I remember my mum was next to me when I first saw the MV for Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand's Tell Him.
I loved it when I first heard it. It was so powerful for me, when these 2 women joined voices. All that passion when they sang, and somehow it still sounded like a sad song. I still listen to it so I keep it in my mp3 player. It just brings this uplifting feeling when I hear it. And I'm brought back to the 90s, sitting in the Bishan living room with mum beside me as we enjoyed the company of these women on one of those nice afternoons.
I have purchased 'Michael Jackson Live: The Dangerous Tour' DVD. It's a damn good feeling watching Michael again in clear quality. One day I'm going to share this with my children. And they'll look back on it like how we looked back at The Beatles, and hopefully embrace his music as well. He was one of the best thing that happened to my 90s.
Here is a great song to look back on. Get lost in the music.
Michael Jackson - Will You Be There
Hold me like the River Jordan and I will then say to thee, you are my friend
carry me like you are my brother, love me like a mother, will you be there?
weary, tell me will You hold me, when wrong will you scold me, when lost will you find me?
But they told me a man should be faithful, and walk when not able, and fight till the end But I'm Only Human
Everyone's taking control of me, seems that the world's got a role for me I'm so confused will you show to me you'll be there for me and care enough to bear me
Hold Me, Lay Your Head Lowly, Softly Then Boldly, Carry Me There Lead Me, Love Me And Feed Me, Kiss Me And Free Me, I Will Feel Blessed Carry, Carry Me Boldly, Lift Me Up Slowly, Carry Me There Save Me, Heal Me And Bathe Me, Softly You Say To Me, I Will Be There
Lift Me, Lift Me Up Slowly, Carry Me Boldly, Show Me You Care Hold Me, Lay Your Head Lowly, Softly Then Boldly, Carry Me There Need Me, Love Me And Feed Me, Kiss Me And Free Me, I Will Feel Blessed
In Our Darkest Hour, In My Deepest Despair, Will You Still Care? Will You Be There? In My Trials And My Tribulations, Through Our Doubts And Frustrations In My Violence, In My Turbulence, Through My Fear And My Confessions In My Anguish And My Pain, Through My Joy And My Sorrow In The Promise Of Another Tomorrow I'll Never Let You Part, For You're Always In My Heart.
I loved watching Donny & Marie (the 90s one). They always had new stuff on the show. I remembered Donny introducing medicine for kids that was made into a lollipop so kids would eat it. That was interesting. It was from there I started learning more about them and their songs. Aaron Carter did a cover for 'One Bad Apple', and S Club Juniors did a cover for 'Puppy Love'.
Here is they performing their best energetic moves in One Bad Apple. It's really good. That little kid is Donny btw. Gerekz!
One Bad Apple
MICHAEL JACKSON
King of Pop or what. What would the Pop era be without him? Probably different but we don't know. I'm just happy he was a part of my childhood. The "HO!"s and the "Hi heeee!"s. Who can resist.
Here's a great performance I found online, done during his History world tour in 97. It would probably bring back some memories if you watch. It's called They Don't Care About Us.
They Don't Care About Us
THE HANSONS
My family haven't really subscribed to cable yet in the 90s. But there was a short period of time when I think we got free previews of cable channels. And I got excited everytime I saw Aaron Carter or Hanson, Nsync or BSB on MTV. I remembered always seeing "I Will Come To You" by Hanson appear on. I love the song so much, I still do. The brothers were great songwriters at such a young age it's impressive.
So here we go, I Will Come To You with The Hansons.
All along I thought Lennon only had one kid, Sean [right], whose mother is Yoko Ono n who was five when his father died. But while watching an interview there's another kid from a first wife, Cynthia. His name is John Charles Julian Lennon [left], also known as Julian Lennon.
What many people didn't know is there were a few Beatle songs written for/inspired by him.
"Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"
Julian inspired the title of one of his father's most famous songs whose lyrics described a picture Julian drew; a watercolour painting of a girl [a classmate named Lucy] surrounded by stars.
"Hey Jude"
Paul McCartney was inspired with 'Hey Jude' when Julian's parents divorced. It was meant to be 'Hey Jules' but McCartney changed it to Jude cos it sounded better.
Paul: What happened with "Hey Jude" was I was driving out to see Cynthia and Julian and they - Cyn and John - had just been separated and they were still friends you know. You know people involved in divorces - both sides are still your friends, you can't go siding with just one. So... I went out just to see Cyn and to see how she was, to see how things were. I was just driving out one day. It was a lovely day. And I find in the car for me - that's a good time to kind of get ideas and stuff, I think it is for a lot of people. So I was just going out there and was singing "Hey Jules" - (sings "Hey Jules") - I got this idea - (sings "Don't make it bad") - you know the situation - (sings "take a sad song and make it better") and - Eventually I thought "Jules" didn't sound quit right and "Jude" just stuck, a little break on it. It just sounded better in the lyrics. So I substituted that word. But I didn't actually go up to Julian and - "Hey you know I wrote this for you" - I don't do that. But that was really the basic idea that kicked it off.
"Good Night"
A track from The Beatle's White Album, although sung by Ringo Starr, is a lullaby written by John Lennon for Julian.
MTV Asia Awards 2008 will be held on August 2 at Genting - City of Entertainment.
And the host will be none other than *drum ber-rolling*
JARED LETO
I am surprised, very surprised. Of all people, how did he get involved. Yes I have to go. It will be stupid if this is the closest I'll be to the frontman of my fav band, and I don't go for it. I'll be 21 by then. Daddy dearest has to let me go. Damn, they're so close they might as well come to Singapore *silently prays*... more about MTV Asia Awards 2008
